Yes we know it’s not really major news and that it’s been quite slow around here lately, we’ve had some interesting rumours surface in the past month that we were quick to dismiss as false. Just a heads up to everyone that we will only publish news stories here that aren’t rumours or false in any way, if we do we will specifically state it’s a rumour and should be treated as such.

Anyway now that’s out of the way onto the “news”. The Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Game Studios, Shane Kim recently answered 10 questions for gaming website Game Daily. In there he still mentions Alan Wake as one of the games that we can look forward to “later this year and beyond”, note the word beyond there.

You can head over here to read the interview.

maybe when he said “later this year AND BEYOND” he meant how Alan wake was doing like episodic content . Like a television series.

Alan Wake doesn’t have episodic content. The storyline is simply structured to be like Television episodes.

There’s one game with each chapter of the story have a beginning and end similar to how TV episodes are.

I hope they will be more talkative in the coming months…

It doesn’t prove anything. The way the sentence was structured:

“for later this year and beyond, Xbox 360 customers can look forward to Gears of War 2, Fable 2, Banjo, Halo Wars, and Alan Wake”

the ‘beyond’ part can refer to any of the 5 games mentioned. We’re becoming too self-centered to think that any tiny scribble of Alan Wake amidst the sea of other games automatically refers to Mr. Insomnia :)

He wouldn’t have referred to Alan Wake if it wasn’t on the horizon; but you’re right, the ‘beyond’ part protects them from committing to a 2008 release date.

In that kind of position, you need to be pretty careful with wording, in case the press misinterpret what you say (as Morry found out last week :P).

Oh I agree but you can argue that it can refer to Alan Wake as well. Like Maddie said it’s them saving their asses just in case they do slip.

They’ve gone from saying “It’s a 2008 title” to “It might not come out 2008″ to “It’s a 2008 and possibly beyond title”.

This is the whole good reason why ‘When it’s done’ works.

They could be saying “beyond” for other games that arn’t metioned. Maybe yet to be annouced games.

Ahum !

“we were just a $600 million company with 10,000 employees when I started!”

Oh man, it was really a very small company when he joined them in 1990 xD
