Alan Wake not listed at E3 2008

IGN has listed every videogame officially confirmed to be shown at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 08). Running from July 14 to July 17, the expo will showcase the year’s upcoming blockbuster titles. However, our most anticipated title, Alan Wake, is missing from the list of showcase games.

As you can expect Microsoft to be the primary marketer for the game, they should be including Alan Wake in their showcases whenever they feel the game is ready to be shown to the public. Their list for this year’s expo includes anticipated titles such as Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Halo Wars and Too Human.

Before coming to quick conclusions, IGN points out, the list includes every videogame that has been “officially confirmed” and that there is always the chance that companies will be keeping their surprises a secret until the show actually starts. We will just have to wait and see…

This is bad, we need some new footage, the last footage is from 2006! I’m really starting to doubt remedy…

It also doesn’t take into consideration that Remedy might release something around the time of E3 anyway rather than attending.

As long as no-one working on the finish product is taken away from working on it, I’m fine with it. F-haha-ine I say!

I don’t think they’ll appear at E3 but there’s still hope! ;)

“Just remember not to go crazy if your most anticipated title isn’t on the list — after all, E3 is known for its surprises and secrets, not every company is going to let us know everything ahead of time. That means that our list will by no means be complete until the show starts.”

Well, just like Shane Kim said, they will not release anything else to anyone as they seem to have done a LOT of fascinating things to it. When they do release any news, it will be on alanwake.com first or some other microsoft affiliated site. They want to keep the exciting things they have done a secret to get that same effect as watching a child open a present.

I think and hope this game will exceed my expectations for them to be working so much on it. If they were money greedy, by the way this is microsoft, they would have released it when they got tired of working on it. The video listed on alanwake.com is actually directx 9 rendered :-) If it looks that good on directx 9, I can expect remarkable things using Two hd 3870’s using crossfire in directx 10. I’m ASSUMING we’re in for Ambient weather in addition to the fantastic ambient lighting. I hope their engine is coded well as Crysis has a terrible one that isn’t efficient with frames.

But wasn’t Alan Wake confirmed to be shown on TGS? Well i think they have lots of good features in the game that we don’t know so we just wait.

Hey, yeah, I forgot all about the TGS. Wasn’t it supposed to be shown there this this year?

It was rumored that it would be present at TGS last year, but it didn’t happen. As for this year’s TGS, I haven’t heard anything, but don’t get your hopes up. TGS is pretty much an all-exclusive Japanese games convention. Mainly used to show off new RPGs, and other Japanese products. Which is why I never understood the AW at TGS rumor.

If AW does make a convention appearance sometime soon, it’ll be at E3 or Leipzig in Germany (which is a more European convention and Remedy is European).

bstarter29:

It’s not a rumor, Microsoft had a contest last year where the winner would get his face put in the game.

“Let the games begin with a trip to Finland to be digitally mastered into Alan Wake’s world, then jet off to Tokyo to the 2008 Tokyo Games Show to be on the scene and on the screen!”
