Finnish site Tietoviikko recently released an interview with Alan Wake himself, Ilkka Villi. Alan Wake was modelled after the Finnish actor and in the interview Villi mentions that he’s visited Remedy several times over the past couple of years, the most recent session time being last year.
Unfortunately we don’t have a translation of the article but Kotaku had a paragraph of the article translated where Ilkka mentions that being in a production this huge in Finland is the closest to being in Hollywood that he’ll ever get. If you are able to translate the article for us please contact us. Huge thanks to Nils (and also Henna Lehto) for providing translation to the original article. IGN has listed every videogame officially confirmed to be shown at this year’s Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3 08). Running from July 14 to July 17, the expo will showcase the year’s upcoming blockbuster titles. However, our most anticipated title, Alan Wake, is missing from the list of showcase games.
As you can expect Microsoft to be the primary marketer for the game, they should be including Alan Wake in their showcases whenever they feel the game is ready to be shown to the public. Their list for this year’s expo includes anticipated titles such as Fable 2, Gears of War 2, Halo Wars and Too Human.
Before coming to quick conclusions, IGN points out, the list includes every videogame that has been “officially confirmed” and that there is always the chance that companies will be keeping their surprises a secret until the show actually starts. We will just have to wait and see…

Computer And Videogames.com recently interviewed Microsoft Game Studios Shane Kim and in the interview he mentioned that Alan Wake will not be shown at the Spring Showcase as they are controlling the release of new information very carefully with Remedy.
“When you can announce a game and get people really excited about it, the last thing you want to do is show it before it’s ready. Alan Wake is pretty ambitious, in terms of what it’s trying to do. It’s taking a very different approach to storytelling and gameplay and it’s taking a lot of work to get it right.”

Yes we know it’s not really major news and that it’s been quite slow around here lately, we’ve had some interesting rumours surface in the past month that we were quick to dismiss as false. Just a heads up to everyone that we will only publish news stories here that aren’t rumours or false in any way, if we do we will specifically state it’s a rumour and should be treated as such.
Anyway now that’s out of the way onto the “news”. The Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Game Studios, Shane Kim recently answered 10 questions for gaming website Game Daily. In there he still mentions Alan Wake as one of the games that we can look forward to “later this year and beyond”, note the word beyond there.
You can head over here to read the interview.

Wired.com recently interview Shane Kim, corporate vice president of Microsoft Game Studios. Shane talked about Alan Wake and what lies ahead and why they are holding back on releasing information about the game.
… “it is an ambitious, different kind of game. It’s exactly like the conversation we just had about Too Human. We’ve got to be careful about how we unveil that, right, so that we build on the excitement that people have and we don’t do any damage there. The good news is that it remains one of our most anticipated titles. Everybody’s asked me about it, which is awesome. Remedy’s a great partner for us. I think we’re going to have a huge hit on our hands.”

Well according to Robbie Bach, President of Entertainment & Devices Division at Microsoft it is.
In a recent interview by Sith Gamer Robbie said this:
SG: One thing you talked about are the games- so far I think the 2008 year seems to be lacking. Especially when put up against the PS3 or Wii.
RB: Well were saving a lot of stuff for GDC, which is where we plan on showing off some big titles such as Halo Wars and Alan Wake.
Now I don’t know how accountable a site like Sith Gamer is, especially for a web blog hosted at wordpress.com, so take this with grain of salt for the time being. Also GDC is the Game Developer’s Conference held on the 18th to 22nd February this year.
